Brief info
Maria Pohjala is currently serving as the Senior Forest Policy Adviser for EU and International Affairs at the Finnish Central Union of Agricultural Producers and Forest Owners (MTK).
Maria holds a master's degree in Forest Sciences from the University of Helsinki, with a focus on forest management and ecology as her major field of study. Prior to joining MTK, she worked as an EU forest policy advisor for the Confederation of European Forest Owners (CEPF) and the Nordic Family Forest Owners' Alliance (NSF) in Brussels.
During her career, Maria also gained valuable experience working as an EU correspondent for the prominent Finnish Agriculture and Forestry newspaper, Maaseudun Tulevaisuus. She held this position for 5.5 years, both in Helsinki and Brussels, with a specific focus on EU Forest and Agriculture policies.
In her free time, Maria enjoys spending quality moments at her family cabins and exploring the beautiful Finnish nature through hiking.
